Blog hop

Thank you very much to my friend, Deb Hockenberry, for inviting me to this blog hop. Deb has always loved writing stories. She has taken two courses with the Institute for Children's Literature and she continues to take other writing courses. You can find out more about her on her website:

Another of my author friends, Linda Black, joined this blog hop. She is the author of 4 children's books. They are wonderful books, which children will love. Linda has been writing stories since she was 10 years old. I've reviewed her books and loved them.
Here's Linda's blog address:

  •  What are you currently working on editing my new children's book. My sister/illustrator, Holly Humphrys-Bajaj,  has completed the cover and one of the illustrations. We hope to have it ready before the end of the year.

  • How does your work differ from others in the same genre?
One of my books is an award-winning autobiography called "Tails of  Sweetbrier. It's written as if I'm talking to the reader. My other books: "Charlie the Horse", "Charlene the Star, and"Charlene the Star and Hattie's Heroes,"are told from the animals' point of view.  Readers enjoy their thoughts and words as well.

Why do you write what you write?

I love writing for children and one of my goals is to be a good role model for them. I like to share important life lessons with them. Another objective is to write entertaining stories for children. Whatever you do in life has to be something that you're passionate about. I  feel very strongly that it's important to create good, character-building, stories for children.

     Describe your writing process.
I write down interesting ideas or names for characters. Once I get an idea, I decide what the message will be and then start writing. It takes many revisions, but eventually, my story is ready for publishing.

  1. Hi Janice,
I saw your special comment, but for some reason it didn't land here. Lamby is famous now so he shouldn't blush. D
