What to do about worrying...

As some of you know we write about our fears the first Wednesday of the month. Thank you to Alex Cavanaugh for starting this wonderful group. Please be sure to stop by his blog: AlexJCavanaugh.blogspot.com.

Lately, I've been worrying, which is something we all too often, in my view. We worry about weather we will ever finish our current project. We fret about editing our work so it reflects our best efforts. We worry about where we will get the next idea for a future story. Isn't it a pity we can't get some kind of Ph.D for all of that?
I'd be at the top of the class if those were given out. What can we do?

  • Don't worry about things that can't be changed.  If you get a less than complimentary review, is getting upset going to change anything? We waste lots of time and effort stressing about these things.
  • Most thing we worry about don't happen anyway. I tend to fret about predictions. For example, if the weatherman predicts a cold, snowy Winter, I start imagining snow drifts up to the windows! When you stop to think about it, how often are the forecasters right? It's hard to predict what will happen with something as changeable as the weather. If we think about it all the time, will that make anything change? We have to learn to accept whatever happens and cope with it to the best of our abilities.
So, my humble advice is to relax and take one day at a time. You'll be happier and sleep better as well.
Wishing you all a great day. Thanks for visiting.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Suzanne. I hope the advice helps. We waste so much time fretting about things we can't change. I got that talent from my Mom. Have a great day as well. D

  2. Such a great post and your words are so true. I tend to worry too much as well and most days it is hard to let go and just take it one day at a time. But these days i am more relaxed and don't worry so much.

Hope you have a great week ahead.

    1. So nice to hear from you, Julie. I hope you're having a great day as well. I'm sure I'd have gotten the top grade for worrying if that's all I had to do! We have to spend our energies on something more worthwhile. D

  4. I try to take it one day at a time, but that can be easier said than done at times. Good advice though.

  5. Most things worthwhile are not easy, but they are possible. I know old habits die hard, but if we make an effort, we will improve in all things. That's my philosophy. I hope you succeed. Thanks for visiting and happy weekend.
