“There Once was a Penny” is a well-written rhyming book for children. In the story, you’ll meet Penny, a bright, pretty penny. She is hoping for a beatiful life with a purpose. At first, she’s shoved into a drawer and ignored. But then she’s bought by a pawn shop owner. He puts a tag on her and she is on display. She waits for somone to choose her. Finally, a wealthy lady comes along, but she ignores Penny, using her in a degrading way. Penny is discarded and covered with mud. At last, someone gives Penny a purpose and she is delighted.
I enjoyed this book and I believe children will as well. It’s a good story for families to discuss.
