Insecure writer's Group: my suggestions this month

Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year! I hope it's a lovely one for all of you. This month I don't have new worries so I'll share some hints which  might help your writing career:

  • When you're writing, do you try to please everyone? I admit, I've done this. I tend to take negative comments personally. That gives them more power than they deserve, in my view.Keep in mind, the comments are only one person's opinion. It doesn't make him/her an expert. The person might have been having a bad day when nothing would have earned positive feedback.
  • It's a good idea to wait a day before you decide your work is ready for publication:If you're anything like me you go to bed thinking you've found all the mistakes. You've tracked down the repetitive words. Now you're ready. But in the morning, when you're not bleary-eyed, things look entirely different. You wonder why you ever consider sending your manuscript to the publisher. You see all kinds of things that need improvement.
  • Revise, revise and revise again: Make sure you're offering your best work. Don't be afraid to keep revising until you're confident your work reflects your very best effort.
I hope these little hints help you create something amazing. Thanks for visiting.

  1. Happy 2016, Deanie! These are great tips. Thank you for sharing. I tend to try and please people, which isn't always the best thing for my creativity. Hope you and your family have a great year.

  3. I do tend to be impatient because "I want to get this out there now", but that won't get me far. Hope you're doing well.

  4. I know what you mean, M.R. R. We want to get our work out so we tend to rush through because we're anxious. Whenever I've done that, it doesn't have the best result. As in other things, it's a learning process. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
    Happy weekend.
