Insecure Writers Support Group

Hi everyone,
It's time for us to talk about our new insecurities and encourage each other to persevere. Be sure to stop by AlexjCavanaugh.blogspot.com to see what he and his co-hosts have to share this month.
September’s optional question - Have you ever surprised yourself with your writing? For example, by trying a new genre you didn't think you'd be comfortable in?

I've been learning more about promoting so as usual, new things make me uneasy. But it's good to learn more and step out of the comfort zone now and then. I'm even doing more editing for others.
That's all of the new insecurities this time.
In answer to this month's question: I haven't tried writing in a new genre, but now and then something does happen to surprise me.
Have a great month everyone.

Insecure writer's group

Hi Everyone,
I hope you're having a great week. You probably know that members of this group, write about their insecurities on the first Wednesday of the month. The group is founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh and we're all grateful to him for all he's done.
This month's question is what is your favorite aspect of  being a  writer?

I love coming up with new ideas, which is not always easy. But once that part is done, it's a big obstacle overcome. Once I get an idea for a new story, the next challenge is making sure the story is entertaining. Also, I love incorporating valuable, character-building lessons in the stories. The tricky part is letting the readers discover the important nuggets for themselves, or at least, pondering about what important things they would like to remember. Most of the time, my stories are narrated by the animal characters. But we have a new story coming out where the main character is a little lawn tractor. It's a  new adventure for us because it's our first picture book. My sister is working on the illustrations now. We're looking forward to the new book.

Insecure about editing? Me too!

Some of you know the first Wednesday of the month is our turn to write about our insecurities. What makes us frazzled and worried?  Special thanks to Alex J. Cavanaugh for starting this group. Be sure to hop on over to AlexJCavanaugh.blogspot.com to find out what everyone has to say.

Lately, editing has been making me a bit more frantic than usual. I'm working on revising one of my books. Did you ever think this passage or that one just couldn't be left out? Then you might decide to take it out, but the next day, you revise it and plunk it back in there somewhere. How do you know you're doing the  right thing?  I think you need to trust your intuition, like you did when you were in school taking a test. Remember how teachers would sometimes remind you that usually your first intuition was right? If you think your favorite part is helpful to the story, leave it in. Just be sure it's not similar to something else you've written in the book or article already.
How do you overcome editing jitters? I'm hoping it's like everything else. The more we practice, the less editing we actually need. What do you think?
Hoping all your insecurities are little ones.

Insecure Writer's Group

Hi everyone,
I hope your insecurities are little ones this month. Thank you to Alex J. Cavanaugh for hosting this group.
Last month was one with a milestone event for me: my first TV appearance! I confess it was scary, even before it started. Picture this: We wake up before the crack of dawn so we can travel a little ove an hour away to the studio. We get to the city, thanks to our GPS. But when we're fairly close, the GPS decides not to work! Yipes. even our written directions weren't helpful at this point. I called the studio to explain we were lost, remembering they may not talk to me at all. Totally frazzled by now, my husband pulled the car to the side of the road to plan our next step. Just then I saw the studio right along side of us! We rushed in and waited for my turn to be interviewed.  The interviewer, Laura Hutchinson, was very nice and helpful. My leg was shaking the whole time, but I managed to answer the questions and didn't faint dead away. Not sure if I would do it again, but at least I"m glad to have tried a new venture and survived.
My advice is to try new things. It's good to remember you can do more than you ever imagine. If you don't try, you could miss out on a great opportunity. So next time you're afraid of something, give it a shot. You could surprise yourself.
Wishing you a great month with only tiny insecurities.
