Celebrating the Small Things

Hi everyone,
Sorry I"m so late with posting. I was busy with a project all day. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your week, including  Valentine's Day. What are you celebrating this week?
Here's what we're happy about;

• My book, Charlene the Star and Hattie's Heroes is nearly ready to be re-released in a new version. There's a separate post about it on this site.
• I received a big surprise this week. Someone nominated me "Children's Author of the Month" for Wild Fire Magazine! The funny part is, when I first got the notification on Facebook, I thought it said, '"Wildlife Magazine" and  I thought it was a mistake. Why would someone feature me in Wildlife Magazine? :)
• The Olympics- I love watching them, but it's disappointing that some of the US figure skaters have been having a tough competition so far. It's one of my favorite things to watch.

• I reviewed another cute book, The Fabulous Life of Minnie the Sassy Chick, Minnie's Birthday Party. It's a fun book that I reviewed and recommend.

• My book, My Life at Sweetbrier, was a finalist in the Best Book Awards contest. Naturally, I"m honored and I congratulate all of the winners.
• I've reviewed some cute books lately. Really enjoying that.
• A book signing this weekend. I always get nervous for them, but I'll try to bluff my way through. If any of you are in the area of the High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center in Old Lyme, CT, I'd love to meet you. It's supposed to be very chilly weather, yikes.

• A gold medal for my book, in the children's category of the New Apple Summer e-book Awards.

• I started a new picture book about our dog, Elliott. You might remember he passed away last month and we miss him lots because he was part of the family for more than 13 years. We used to tell our sons that he was their brother and he didn't look like them because he was adopted.
• Working on reviewing more books and making good progress with it.
• Had a fun conversation with my friend Charlene today.

• Not much rain, which is good because the grass and weeds don't grow as fast. :)
• We got a little blender system called the Magic Bullet. Have any of you tried it? It's fun and we've made some nice smoothies and other things with it.
• My author friend, Virginia Wright, featured my new book on her blog this week. She also has a new coloring book out, called "Practice Your Way to Perfect; Seashore Coloring Book. It's another beautiful creation, written and illustrated by Virginia.
• I'm enjoying reading another author friend, Janice Spina's new middle grade mystery, The Case of the Mischievous Ghost, part of her Davey and Derek series.

• Helping my sister-in-law with a little project/
• A visit from our neighbor and his little dog-Our neighbor found out we lost our very special dog recently so he brought his little dog to visit. She's adorable and she wanted to stay. We miss Elliott a lot,but we keep picturing him having fun in Heaven the way he couldn't here.
• I started reviewing a book. Just haven't been too cheerful without Elliott, but still working on that.
• A Skype chat with my sister, who recently moved away.

• Father's Day was fun. Our sons came to visit. They mowed the grass for their Dad with our little mower,Wilbur. Here's his picture. Isn't he cute?  We love Wilbur so much we're writing a picture book about him. After the mowing, we went to dinner.
• Tomorrow my sister-in-law is coming. We don't see her often,but we always have fun together.
• First day of summer. I love warm weather.
• Some of you may know I'm a baseball fan, especially the Yankees. My favorite team is back in first place after having a horrible week last week.

• We sold our grand caravan, but we will miss him in the winter because he has 4-wheel drive and our Honda doesn't.
• There was a tornado warning not too far from us last night, but no one got hurt. It's very unusual for our area.
• My friend, Charlene's husband is doing much better. He's home from the hospital.

• My husband got the job he wanted, in his profession, physical therapy. He'll be working in home health, his favorite setting. So proud of all his talents.
