Pony of the Americas

The picture above is  one of the Pony of the Americas Breed. (POA for short)
These gentle ponies are very good for young riders because they have excellent dispositions. They are also just the right size for children. These ponies are usually between 11.2 hands (46 inches) and 14 hands (56 inches)
Where did this breed of pony start? The first POA ponies were from Iowa, USA.  POA ponies are often combinations of Connemara Ponies, Appaloosa Horses, Arabian Horses, and Quarter Horses. We've talked about many of those breeds in other blog posts.
What kinds of things are Ponies Of Americas used for? They are often seen in endurance competitions, driving events, (where the ponies pull carts), Three day event shows, or jumping classes. You can see that the Ponies of America are very versatile.
