National Holidays Today

 

Good morning everyone. We're going to have fun discussing some of today's national holidays.

National Corn on the Cob Day:

This is the beginning of the season for delectable corn on the cob. You can steam it, roast it, boil it or grill it. No matter which way you prepare it, you're likely to enjoy it.

National Cancer Thriver Day:

This is a special day to honor those who are suffering from cancer and beating it. Special shout out to my friend Elisa. She's a great, positive role model.

National Children's Day:

I adore children, especially mine. May you cherish your children every day.

National Making Life Beautiful Day:

May you always create smiles, joy and beauty for those around you.

National Olivia Day:

 If you have the beautiful name Olivia, this is a day especially to celebrate you.

What are some National Holidays today?

 

Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying your day. Today, I'll share some of the national holidays celebrated on this day.

Did you know it's E-Bike Day? 

I had no idea these interesting bikes have been around since 1895.They were invented by Ogden Bolton, Jr. Today, they're very popular because they're reasonably priced and anyone can ride them. Over 3000 of them have been bought since 2019.

National Mint Julip Day:

Mint Julips are popular on Kentucky Derby Day, even though they often cost $1,000 each, when the money is donated to charity. Usually, Mint Julips are made with bourbon, sugar and mint and ice. What if you don't like some of these ingredients? You can order a cherry-lime one, a watermelon one, or a blackberry julip. How do some people celebrate Derby Day? They may have a costume party where ladies dress elegantly with big hats. Or you may hire an experienced bartender and ask friends to bring a bottle of lesser-known liquor to make drinks.  Many people believe that Mint Julips were first created in Virginia, where the drinks were called a "spiritous liquor."

National Hug Your Cat Day:

Although cat owners, hug their cats regularly, this is a day when you can give your kitty extra attention. Maybe even buy it a gift.

Friday thoughts: National Holidays Today And Memorial Day

 Good morning everyone.  I hope you have a lovely day and weekend. Please take time to honor our military heroes, whether they served,( or are serving) in the Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, or Special Forces. We should honor and treasure them every day, in my opinion.

Today we'll learn some new things about some of the National Holidys that are celebrated today.

National Paper Airplane Day:

National Paper Airplane Day has been observed for many years. How do people celebrate? There are contests and winners are chosen based on how far their airplane travels and how long it stays in the air.

Blueberry Cheesecake Day:

I love cheesecake. We  lived in FL for several years and there were two specialty cheesecake restaurants about half an hour away. We'd go there for special celebrations.

National Cherry Dessert Day:

Do you love cherries? If so, be sure to party today and enjoy your favorite treat. I'm not a big cherry fan,but many people are. You might enjoy cherry tarts, or cherry pies.

National Don't Fry Day:

I've never heard of this holiday. Have you? It's meant to encourage your family to use any other method of cooking than frying.

National Road Trip Day:

In America, many families love to travel so we have a National Day to honor that. 

National Carb Day:

I bet you're thinking this day was named for all of the carb foods that so many of us love, but that's not entirely true. National Carb Day actually refers to the last day of practice for the Indy 500 Race. T he full name is National Carburetor Day. This holiday was first celebrated in 1963. After practice, the drivers and crew celebrate by partying and enjoying as many tasty carbs as they'd like.
