Celebrate the Small Things

Hi Everyone,
It's Friday again so we get to celebrate anything we want. Hop on over to LexaCain.blogspot.com to see what she and her blogging partners have to say.
Here's what we're celebrating this week:

  • I'm waiting for the printed proof of my new book, My Life at Sweetbrier-A Life Changed by Horses, to come in the mail. Once we check it for any necessary changes, we'll be ready to set a release date. A huge thank you to the three people who wrote amazing endorsements for the back cover.
  • My sister and brother-in-law had a fun vacation. They'll be home tonight.
  • One of our son's friends is adopting a young dog from the same rescue place where he got his little dog, George. Our son is going to meet the little dog this weekend. He's really looking forward to it.
  • Our other son is nearly finished with school for the year. He has one more final. We're so proud of his grades and his dedication to his job and schoolwork.
  • A little shopping spree using a gift card from our amazing sons.
What are you celebrating this week?

Celebrate the Small things

Hi everyone,
First of all, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and a New Year filled with blessings.
Be sure to stop by LexaCain.blogspot.com to see what she and her blogging partners have to say.

Mostly, we'll celebrate the Christmas this week, but I do have one other thing to cheer about.

  • I'm looking for freelance writing jobs I can do from home and I applied for one, so that's what we're cheering about this week. I don't know what will happen yet, but at least it's the first step.
  • My friend and fellow author, Rhonda Patton's house burned down last week. It's very sad but we're grateful she and her family were not home at the time. Now they're working on finding a new place to live. If any of you would like to help, she has a gofundme.com page here:
  • https://www.gofundme.com/carpayment1000She hasn't been able to update her page because she doesn't have a new computer yet.
  • I won a gift certificate so I bought myself something special with it. Thank you, Virginia Wright.
Let me know what you're celebrating this week.

Grayson the Bully Frog by Rhonda Patton

on April 7, 2015
Ted and Raymond were friends their whole lives. Every morning they walked to school together. One day their friendship was tested, when the two frogs were approached by Grayson, the bully. Raymond made the wrong choice and Ted was very sad. But Ted's Mom helped Raymond realize his
mistake. This is a beautifully told story with an important message that children, parents and teachers will value a great deal. Congratulations to author, Rhonda Patton for her lovely book. I highly recommend it. Children will also love the bright illustrations shared in the book.

Above is my review of Rhonda Patton's wonderful book. I hope you check it out and write your own review for it.
Rhonda works tirelessly to create books that educate children. She is especially passionate regarding combating
bullying. Many of Rhonda's books feature best frog friends Ted and Raymond.  Be sure to check them out.
Do you need book covers, banners, or videos? Rhonda is very gifted at all types of Art. She's done both videos

and banners to promote my books. I highly recommend her work.

Celebrate The Small Things....

Here we are at Friday again. As most of you know, we celebrate all kinds of things every Friday, thanks to Lexa Cain and her co-hosts. Please hop on over to Lexacain.blogspot.com to see what's happening.
Here's what we're celebrating this week:

  • Remember a couple of weeks ago I said something was happening but it wasn't time to share it yet? Well, now I can. I was afraid to say anything in the beginning. Anyway, my news is that our older son went on a trip to Russia and now he's home safely. He had a great time and even went to the fancy, beautiful Bolshoi Opera House with his friend. So excited he's home safely. He's already back at work, adjusting to the 7 hour time difference.
  • Tomorrow my article will be featured on Chris The Story Reading Ape's blog. If you're not familiar with it, stop by to check it out. Lots of great authors submit their work. Actually, I think it'll be posted later today, since Chris lives in England. I'll add the exact link when it's up.
  • My author/artist friend, Rhonda Patton has a new FB page for authors. Her event is still going on. Please stop by to check it out. She said it'll be going on for two weeks. Here's the link:

Thanks for stopping by, everyone. What are you celebrating?

 My Dad, always my hero.

Free today!! Rhonda Patton's Story: African Safari with Ted and Raymond

Hi everyone,
I just reviewed Rhonda Patton's story African Safari with Ted and Raymond. It's a lovely book, full of adventure and educational facts. For example, What does the Giraffe like to eat? Why do Zebras travel close together? Why does the Flamingo stand on one leg? Your child will learn a great deal while he or she is being entertained by this adventure story. Here is my review:

on January 1, 2016
I loved this story. It's bright, colorful illustrations will engage young readers while they learn facts about wild animals of Africa. Did you know what Kiingfish birds eat? How tall is an elephant and what does he like to eat? Best friends Ted and Raymond love their adventures in Africa. Their tour guide, Adebayo, did a wonderful job introducing the frog friends to exotic African animals. By the way, do you know what the word "Adebayo" means? I"ll bet you'll be surprised when you find out. This is a wonderful story children are sure to adore. They'll be so well educated about African animals and they'll be anxious to find out what happens next! Congratulations Rhonda Patton on a job well done! I highly recommend this story!

An interview with talented children's author, Rhonda Patton

Good morning everyone. Today I have the pleasure of chatting with talented author, Rhonda Patton. She has written several children's books, but today we will discuss her book, Grayson the Bully Frog.
We'll get right to the questions so you can learn more about Rhonda and her work.

·        Tell us a little about your story Grayson the Bully Frog:
Ted and Raymond are best frog friends and they have been since they were little.  When they come up to one of Raymond’s friends, Grayson, Ted is made fun of by the biggest bully, Grayson. Ted is very sad and upset that he was made fun of.
Sadly, bullying is part of today's society. I'm looking forward to the day when children are more understanding of others.
·        How did you get the idea for this story?  My daughter was bullied at her school from many people.  She hurt as well.  I want to change the next generation so they can see how it feels when they hurt someone, even name-calling.
I'm sorry to hear that. You have a beautiful family. It's a shame your daughter was subjected to bullying.

>·        Did you have a particular message to share in the story?
My message to the younger generation is to be kind, look at how Ted reacts in the story of being bullied.  It hurts.
That's excellent advice, Rhonda. If children would stop and think about how it feels to be teased, they might take a minute to think about their actions.
·        What age range would this book be best for?
I believe anyone can read the book and learn a lesson but I am targeting Kindergarten to 5th grades.
I'm sure that age range would enjoy this story. The message is an important one.
·        How long have you been writing stories for children?
I started out my first original story was “The Croak 500” and I wrote it when I was 19 years old.  I have always loved writing poetry.
I've never tried poetry. I think you need a particular talent for that. Good job!
·        Do you have any writing projects now?
I have many book titles I will be coming out with soon.  I just haven’t had the time as I have been in school.
I'll look forward to your new book releases.
·        What has been the most enjoyable (or exciting) part of your writing career so far?
The children.  I love making happy stories for children that will stand out to them and be a better little person and young adults.
We definitely agree about that! It's fun when the children are excited about your books, isn't it? It' the primary reason we write the stories. I think happy stories with important messages make the world a better place.

·        Who illustrated your book?
My husband drew the characters and backgrounds and I filled the illustrations in with colors and background images.
They're so cute and it's nice you can work together, the way my sister and I do with our books. It makes the process more fun.
·        Please share purchase links for your books: You can go to my website and the first page directs you to my book links to buy.
Thank you so much for talking with me today Rhonda. We had fun together. I'm sure my readers will enjoy learning more about you and your talents.
Before we leave, I'd like to congratulate you on earning your Associates Degree in Graphic Design and working toward your Bachelor's Degree!
You're welcome. I'm already looking forward to our next interview together."
