Sunday thoughts from Mark Twain, Rumi, Patrick Ness

Good morning everyone. Wishing you a sensational Sunday. Here are some quotes that share wisdom.

“In a good bookroom you feel in some mysterious way that you are absorbing the wisdom contained in all the books through your skin, without even opening them.”
― Mark Twain

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”
― Confucious

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
― Rumi

“You do not write your life with words...You write it with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do.”
― Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

What if your child has a disability?

What if your child has a disability? You're probably thinking you feel like the world came crashing in on you. But if you look outside the sun might be shining and the sky is right where it belongs. How do I know about this?  The reason is simple. My parents were told I'd never walk when I was nearly four years old. But he didn't handle it in the average way. He refused to accept that as fact. My dad told me,"Don't pay any attention to what the doctor said. It doesn't make him right. I'm going to teach you to ride and you'll be fine." I totally trusted him so he and I started on our journey together.
I loved riding and my first pony, Little Man. He was a little devil though and much smarter than I. He played a trick on me every chance he got. If you read my true story, Tails of Sweetbrier, you'll find out exactly what Little Man did when he got bored.
I think when you face any type of adversity, the outcome depends on the action you take. What if my dad had taken the doctor's word as the truth? Maybe he'd have babied and coddled me. Worse than that, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to set goals and work toward them. I'd have missed the experience of a lifetime. If you battle any type of adversity, you choose the course of action. In many ways, you may determine the outcome by persevering until you succeed.
I fell of my horse or pony so many times. It seemed I became an expert at falling off and getting up. In our family none of us were allowed to quit. It's a blessing because quitting only assures defeat.
In closing, I'll leave you with the last sentence in my book, "You have the power to make your dreams come true so reach for them and don't accept anything less!"

Interview with Amazing author, Mark Koopmans!

 Author, Mark Koopmans

"Hi everyone, I'm thrilled to be spending time with gifted author Mark Koopmans today. Welcome, Mark. We'll get right to the questions. I"m really excited to be hosting your blog hop and telling people more about you and your book!
How did you get the idea for your book?
Thanks, Deanie, for having me over to wrap up the book tour. What a month!
The idea to write REVIVAL came after I spoke to Donald Braswell, who, at the time (2008) had recently finished fourth overall in America’s Got Talent. I interviewed Donald for the newspaper I worked for, but as the “official chat” ended, we continued talking for forty-five minutes and I was inspired by learning more about Donald’s back story. I knew then this could be a project far greater than a simple feature.
You had a great idea, Mark. I'm so happy you decided to write this book! I think it will bring you much success.
I know you’re doing a book tour. Describe some of the highlights of your tour.
The main highlights have been the wonderful blogger friends who have made such an effort to stop by most, if not all days that I posted. Their support definitely bolstered me! Other highlights, for me, came from sharing all the self-taught tips I’ve learnt in writing a memoir.
I'm glad so many great people offered to help you spread the word about your book!
What was the most exciting part of your book tour?
Probably seeing the book available at the publisher’s website and then on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
It is really exciting when you see the proof your book is actually published, isn't it?
What are your plans for the future?
I’m finishing my first novel, a WWII thriller. Then I plan to tackle a modern-day thriller set in Florida. I’m not sure I would ever tackle a memoir again, but they do say, “Never say never.”
Where can we purchase your book?
You can find REVIVAL at:

Pen-L Publishing (my publisher)
"Thank you so much for talking about your wonderful book, Mark. I know it's going to be a smashing success. Everyone will love your special giveaway that's listed on your blog. You have wonderful gifts we would all love to win.

An interview with gifted children's author Kevin Christofora

Hello everyone , today I have the pleasure of interviewing talented children's author, Kevin Christofora. He loves writing and today you'll find out lots more about him, his passion and his future plans. Welcome, Kevin, it's great to be speaking to you today. We'll get on with our questions now.

Tell us something about yourself:
I laugh when people call me an author.  I didn’t grow up ever thinking I would be. Some times I still feel awkward, but I can't deny it with two books done and the third coming soon.  Now I am owning up to it! J   I am a dad.  I grew up in a family business  (a meat market )which taught me many life skills.
After having children and becoming a coach, I found a huge need.  While doing my own homework on how to make practices more fun, I found major organizations willing to teach groups of parents how to be better coaches. I loved the fact that someone knew all these volunteer parents don’t necessarily know how to coach.Yes, we're  thankful for the coaches time, but it wasn’t the best experience. I took classes and brought the knowledge back to my organization after I became president.  It doesn’t matter what sport you coach,  these classes were geared to teaching kids. Learning kid psychology, and  parent-coach communication skills from experienced veterans. I was dumbfounded at how many kids showed up knowing nothing about baseball. I was exhausted at the end of the day, reading to my kids with slurred speech. Wouldn't it be great to write about baseball to teach kids and parents about the game so they'd know what to do and where to go when we got to the field? I wanted to write a book about what I did every day on the field.
You've accomplished so much, Kevin!
Tell us about your books:
The Hometown All Stars are a series for books for children four to six. They teach children about baseball using real coaching techniques.  In this interactive storybook, kids will find hidden baseballs in the pictures, answer trivia questions, and there’s a page for autographs from their favorite players.  The series is designed to be short-anytime reading books.  You learn how to catch, hit, and throw before you even think about playing a game.
Your books are really fun and entertaining Kevin. I've reviewed them and I can see why kids and parents love them.
Are you working on any new stories?   oh-yes, everyone wants the one what's coming.  What have you done for me lately?  It doesn’t exist- lol  We are deep into book 3. The schedule is to have art complete by the end of December to meet a march release. I am excited.  It is coming out better than I predicted…lots of fun mixed in.  I cant wait!
Such exciting news, Kevin!
From now till Xmas, all book sold, I will match and donate to children’s hospitals around the country.
I have a great fundraising program, where we sell books at cost to organizations, and they add to registrations or just flat out sell.  Any unused books, we buy back. I think it is awesome to help spread the efforts of more green, less screen.
The blog on my website is incredible.  I have incredible new help from Mugsy PR.   They have helped create a great image and the content is so useful and what I would declare as normal and useful.  Many new parents are feeling their way. Here they have a chance to see how other parents handle similar situations or conquer the time management with kids and activities and bedtime. We have found many repeat visits, which helps reassure that the content is good.  Who doesn’t want 6-6minute snack ideas?  And healthy ones at that!
Great ideas Kevin, Best wishes! Thanks for spending time with me today! I really enjoyed learning about you and your books!
