Meet Cocoa and Cream, the amazing twin ponies with wild,
untamed manes! They are anything but ordinary. Cocoa and Cream have a big
dream: to teach little kids how to ride and help them discover their incredible
potential. Join Cocoa and Cream, and discover the countless ways these special
ponies help kids like you reach their goals!
Excerpts from 5- star review by Janice Spina:
The story is about how these twin ponies, Cream and Coca, come to live with two sisters and their parents who run a riding school to help children with problems or disabilities to overcome them and gain confidence in themselves.
The author’s experience and knowledge of horses and ponies is evident in the way she tells the tale of these animals and how they are groomed and fed.
The illustrations are beautifully done and a perfect addition to the story. The author has created another entertaining book to add to her expanding library for children.
Excerpts from 5-star review by Theodore J. Cohen:

If you follow my blog, you may know I had a big dream when I was a child. What was it? I wanted to be an equestrian champion. You might be wondering what's so hard about that? Or, thinking it's not a big deal. Anyone can do that. True, in most cases. But what if you have a disability like I do? What if doctors told your parents you'd never walk? Fortunately, my Dad was a warrior who never accepted anything he thought he could change. I still rememember him picking me up in the doctor's office and telling me not to worry because he'd teach me to ride and I'd be fine.Daddy and I began our journey to prove the doctor wrong.
We had plenty of bad days along the way. Whenever my legs got tired, I slid off my pony, even in the beginning when Daddy led me on my pony. After a while I could ride my pony, Little Man myself. But he was a fuzzy, cute rascal. He got bored and he'd lie down with me still on him! Finally, I noticed he walked slower and slower before he'd lie down so I gave him a little kick with my heels to make him keep walking.
After that, I learned cantering, which was a bit more complicated because I had to learn to sit and follow the pony's motion, instead of bouncing around.
If you want to be an equestrian champion, you need to learn to jump. After I'd been riding for six years, I asked Daddy if I could learn to jump. At first, he resisted. But I reminded him that he and Mom always told me I could do anything, but certain things would take longer. He agreed to teach me and after another six years I started jumping in shows! Of course, in the begining I didn't do very well, but after a few more years of practice, Daddy bought be an amazing, beautiful, black thoroughbred named Fleet Nancy. She was a superstar. We developed a special relationship. But most of all, she loved jumping. And when you have fun doing something it doesn't feel like work. Peach and I became a good team and we won many championships together. Our story proves if you perservere, you can do much more than you think. I hope this story inspires children to try new things and not to be discouraged if they have obstacles to overcome. Dream big and work hard until you reach your goals.
Photographer unknownAt first, SriKanth's parents sent him to a regular school, but he was ignored and lonely so they put him in a school with other special needs students. SriKanth kept overcoming every obstacle in his path. But his big dream was to become an Engineer and no school in India would admit him, even though he scored 90% on the entrance exams. Instead of becoming discouraged, he applied ot MIT in MA and received a full scholarship!
SriKanth dedicated his talents to helping others. How did he do that? He chose to return to India, where he started his own company with 8 special needs employees. In just four years he employed 450! Seventy percent of the personnel has a disability of some sort.

Did you know it's E-Bike Day?
I had no idea these interesting bikes have been around since 1895.They were invented by Ogden Bolton, Jr. Today, they're very popular because they're reasonably priced and anyone can ride them. Over 3000 of them have been bought since 2019.
National Mint Julip Day:
Mint Julips are popular on Kentucky Derby Day, even though they often cost $1,000 each, when the money is donated to charity. Usually, Mint Julips are made with bourbon, sugar and mint and ice. What if you don't like some of these ingredients? You can order a cherry-lime one, a watermelon one, or a blackberry julip. How do some people celebrate Derby Day? They may have a costume party where ladies dress elegantly with big hats. Or you may hire an experienced bartender and ask friends to bring a bottle of lesser-known liquor to make drinks. Many people believe that Mint Julips were first created in Virginia, where the drinks were called a "spiritous liquor."
National Hug Your Cat Day:
Although cat owners, hug their cats regularly, this is a day when you can give your kitty extra attention. Maybe even buy it a gift.
I hope you enjoyed this post.

"Wilbur, welcome to my blog."
"Thank you Deanie. I'm so excited to be spending time with you today."
" I can see how happy you are Wilbur, because your bouncing on all four tires."
"Yes, that's one of my favorite things to do when I'm happy."
"Wilbur, tell our readers how you gave me the idea for your story."
"When I came to your house, you thought I was so cute that I'd be the perfect character for another children's book so you talked to your sister, Holly Humphrys-Bajaj, about illustrating the book for you."
"Thats right, Wilbur. Tell our readers more about your first book."
"Jim McNab is my best friend. He bought me a few years ago and he takes good care of me. I have my own tool box with my name on it and even a green blanket that says 'Wilbur' on it. And Jim always washed my tires if they were muddy. And he had an Irish accent. He'd come into my barn every morning and say, 'Top o' the mornin' to you, Wilbur. ' But one day Jim didn't smile and say 'Top o'the mornin' to you, Wilbur.' He looked sad. Then he told me he'd have to sell me because I was getting o-l-d-e-r, Wilbur whispered. Big tears splashed from my headlights, thinking about being without my best friend. But Jim reminded me I might make new friends in my new home. He knew I love animals and he told me I might make new animal friends.'
"Jim is wise. I bet that helped you feel much better, Wilbur."
"Yes, it did. And Jim said he'd come to visit me in my new home. My book, A Tractor Named Wilbur" shows children that friendships can last a long time."
"That's a good thing for children to learn, Wilbur."
Tell us about your second book, Wilbur's New Home.
"In Wilbur's New Home, Jim puts me up for sale. People come to see me and Jim tells me it will be fun, but most of the visitors are grumpy and unkind. I would've hated being with them. But in the end, I found the perfect family. And at the end there's a special surprise for me."
"That sounds like the perfect story for someone who is moving or changing schools."
Yes, it is. And I love making friends. Readers will meet some of my favorite friends in my books. One is Hattie the chicken. Guess what? She loves wearing pretty bonnets. And she specializes in planning parties. She's terrific at that. My readers love her.

Good morning everyone, I hope you're enjoying the weekend. Today we'll talk about some holidays that are celebrated today . I hope you enjoy reading the post and learn new things.
National Hairdresser's Mental Health Day:
Have you ever considered how friendly and helpful your hairdresser is? He or she often listens to your problems and may even offer advice. Plus, you feel so much better once your hair is styled or cut. You're ready to take on the world with your new look. Did you know we started celebrating National Hairdresser's Awareness Day in 2021?
National Aaron Day:
Today is the big day if your name is Aaron. You can celebrate how special you are, even if you're not as famous as Aaron Judge! The name Aaron has Hebrew roots and means "Mountain of Strength." Parents who choose the name Aaron imagine their son will be a strong, steadfast person. It's easy to pronounce and has been one of the most popular boy's names for years.
Scotch Tape:
Where would we be without cellophane tape, often called Scotch tape? We wouldn't be able to wrap packages, do homework, put up charts, or several other tasks without it. Richard Drew had the idea of inventing cellophane tape in 1920 when he was working at 3M. He began marketing it in 1925 and it's been called Scotch Tape since 1930.
National Asher Day:
The name Asher is of Hebrew origin. It is unique, but it isn't new. The name Asher has been circlating for centuries. The name was given to one of Moses' 12 sons! The original Hebarew name for Asher iw "Osher" No wonder the name is popular. It means "happiness,"
As a special note, I'd like to add that it's Tourette's Syndrome Awareness month. You'll find a post about my friend, Jo Fashank. She is a talented artist with Dementia and Tourette's Sydnrome.
I hope you had fun learning these facts about some of today's holidays.

Good afternoon eveeryone. I hope your day has been splendid so far. Here are some notable quotes from Oscar Wilde.
When I was a little girl my dream was to become an equestrian champion. I'll bet you're thinking what's so specail about that? Plenty of girls can do that. Here is my essay explaining why my dream required perseverance to achieve.
What Makes a Champion?
By Deanie Humphrys-Dunne
I was born with
cerebral palsy, which made walking difficult. In fact, I was nearly
four-years-old when I took my first unsteady steps. A doctor said I’d never
walk, but Daddy wouldn’t accept that. Instead, he chose to teach me to ride
horses.
I grew up at my family’s riding school, called
Sweetbrier. It was the place where my dream could come true. What did I dream
about? Becoming an equestrian champion. Lots of kids can do that, right? In my
case, there was an obstacle to overcome.
Daddy and I worked
diligently toward our goal. After six years, I’d learned basic things— walking,
trotting, and cantering. I asked Daddy if I could learn to jump.
“What if you fall
off, honey?”
“Daddy, I’ll get up.
I always have.”
He said he’d
think about it, but my intuition said success wasn’t around the corner.
My fingers felt clammy, because I was
nervous. “Daddy, you can’t refuse. You’ve always said I can do anything. You
can’t change now. How can I become a champion without jumping?” I stared into his
big blue eyes, holding my breath.
“Alright, we’ll give
it a try.”
“Can I jump with
Cocoa? She’s small and we’re already friends.”
“Sure, honey.
Cocoa’s a good choice.”
The next day,
Cocoa and I were cantering around the riding ring. Would this the big day?
Would we take the first jump? Daddy walked into the ring and set up a cross
rail. My mouth felt dry. My hands felt cold and clammy. My legs trembled.
“Okay, honey, steer
Cocoa toward the jump.”
Clip, clop, Cocoa
trotted toward the little jump. Her front feet landed. I slid off and stared at
her.
“Are you okay,
sweetie?” Daddy brushed me off. “Next time, try to press down more on your
heels.” He hugged me and lifted me back into the saddle. I sniffed back the
tears.
“Let’s try again.
Steer her toward the jump. That’s it. Heels down.”
Again, when
Cocoa’s front legs landed, I fell off. Again, Daddy brushed the dirt off, kissed
me, and lifted me back on. I expected him to tell me to try again, but he
looked into my eyes. “Honey, I think we need to wait until your legs are
stronger before we try to jump again.”
“Daddy, isn’t that
giving up?”
“No, we’re taking
a break. I’ll let you know when you’re ready.”
Tears ran down my
cheeks. I patted Cocoa, wondering if she felt sad too.
Nearly two years
later, Daddy surprised me. “You’re ready to try jumping again.”
“Hooray!”
I steered a big,
cream-colored horse named Laddie toward the cross rail. He was calm, but my
heart thumped in my chest. My legs shook. I stared at the tiny jump. Laddie
tilted his blue eyes down, looking for it. I held my breath. When we reached
the other side, I was still in the saddle! “Daddy, I jumped!” Daddy kissed me and
said we did a good job.
Things didn’t
always go smoothly and it took another three years before I could jump well
enough to enter competitions. Every day, I imagined becoming a champion,
especially on the days when I fell off once or twice. Perseverance is the
key to success, I often whispered to myself.
Daddy traveled
across the country to find me a special horse, one who could compete in the big
shows. Her name was Fleet Nancy, but her nickname was Peach. She was beautiful,
black, and gifted at jumping. When we did well, she’d buck or crow hop to show
me she was pleased. She’d press her neck against my hand when I patted her.
When we entered our first competition, we won first prize! I was so nervous, I
wasn’t sure whether we did well, so I asked my sister. Over the following
years, Peach and I won many championships together.
Whatever your
goals, stay focused and work hard. We all have challenges. Learn from your
failures instead of dwelling on them. Never lose sight of your dreams. I
believe that’s how champions are created. ‘I can’t recall any winners who ever
quit, because they know it’s what happens after you fall that matters.’
