Wilbur's New Home wins Silver Medal!

We're thrilled to announce that our latest book, Wilbur's New Home has earned the Silver Medal from
Literary Titan Reviews.  Here are some excerpts from the review:

"an engaging picture book for toddler and preschool-age children.

This heartwarming story teaches children about friendship, patience, trust, and openness to change and new things in life

Change is hard, and Wilbur is anxious as new people come to meet him, especially when they are unkind. Change is hard for many people, especially children. This exceptional book shows children that it is ok to be worried, it is normal, and finding ways to deal with strong emotions is key.

author includes at the end a list of quiz questions to open up discussions with children on these important topics." ~Literary Titan Reviews

An Interview with Jim and Wilbur the Tractor

"Top o' the mornin' to you, Wilbur," said Jim, entering Wilbur's garage.  Today we're going to talk about your books."

"Hooray," said the little red tractor, bouncing all four tires. "

"I've owned you for more than five years. Tell everyone about your favorite jobs.

"Oh, most of all, I love helping you Jim. You're my best friend. But some of my favorite jobs are helping you mow the grass in the spring and summer. But that doesn't mean I rest all winter. Pushing the snow into neat little piles is so much fun. Sometimes I even pull the little cart so you can take weeds out of the garden."

"That's right, Wilbur. You do all of those jobs so well. We make a good team."

"What else happens in your first book, Wilbur?"

"I feel sad when you tell me you need a new tractor because it would be too hard for me to mow the big field where your new vegetable garden is. I thought I'd never see you again. Big tears rolled down my headlights. But you showed me there can be good things about changes. I might even make new animal friends. It was a great thing to know and I found out we will always be friends."

"That's right, Wilbur."

What happens in your second book, Wilbur's new Home?

"Different people come to see me. Some of them were grumpy and unkind, but you told me we'd find the perfect new family for me. One of the people I was too old. I ran and hid from him. Another man said he didn't like red tractors because they had bad tempers. That made me sad, but you and Hattie the Chicken told me I had to be patient and the right person would come. Our story has a happy ending."

"Yes, it does. We are both happy you found the perfect new family. And they even prepared a special surprise for you in your new home."

"Finally, could you tell everyone about the dedication of your books?"

Sure, Jim. My first book, A Tractor Named Wilbur, is dedicated to  all of the children who read my book. And the second book, Wilbur's new Home is dedicated to all of the children who are shy about making new friends. I love making new friends and I hope all of the children enjoy my books."

"Thank you for telling everyone about your new stories, Wilbur. I loved our interview. I'll see you soon."

Endorsement:
This is a lovely story about a tractor called Wilbur, that should appeal to both young boys and girls with not only an adorable red tractor, but also Susie squirrel and Hattie the chicken.
What I liked most about this story, is it's an easy read, that brings the little tractor to life with adorable life-like traits, such as bouncing on his tires when he's excited, flashing his headlights and sadly, when tears trickled down his headlights.
This book teaches responsibility and appreciation of owning something like a tractor, with the owner Jim meticulously caring for the tractor each day. Also Wilbur's excellent attitude to trying new jobs; such as raking leaves and plowing snow. The book also teaches children to see the bright side and that changes in life are not always bad. A lovely tale, that will capture children's imagination and I am sure will become a night-time favourite. “ ~ Hollie Anne Marsh, children’s author

This is a wonderful story about a man and the tractor he loves with all his heart. They work together day in and day out, happy to be in each other’s company.

But then, the unimaginable happens: life changes. The man decides to buy more property. It’s more land than he can “work” with his little tractor, and so, the man is forced to find a new home for his friend.

Yes, in ways it’s sad. But it does teach us—and our children—that life brings many changes, and we must try to ensure that when these changes occur, everyone is taken care of.

Friends Forever -5 stars by Barbara A.Mojica
Wilbur is a small, shy, red tractor who loves his owner, Jim McCabe. Jim cleans his tires and polishes his headlights. Wilbur cuts the grass, pulls the cart, and plows the snow in winter. But one day, Jim comes into the barn and asks Wilbur if he would like to have a new home.
Wilbur is distraught. He loves Jim and doesn’t want to move. Will Jim and Wilbur find a way to work things out and still be friends?
This picture book contains soft, colorful illustrations and charming dialogue. Children will learn that sometimes they must change and adapt to new situations. The book contains questions for readers to discuss with parents or teachers to maximize the lessons of the tale. Recommended to preschool and elementary school childrenWilbur is an Endearing Little Tractor that children will love!

This is a sweet story about a cute little tractor named Wilbur. Wilbur loves working for his owner, Jim, and always does his best for him. One day things change and Wilbur has to leave his home and move to another owner when Jim buys a larger farm that will be too much for the little tractor to handle. Will Wilbur be happy with a new owner?

Children will enjoy this little story about Wilbur and learn a valuable lesson about changes in their lives. Things don’t stay the same forever. They will love the colorful and sweet illustrations and dialogue that perfectly go together.
This is another lovely book from award-winning children’s author, Deanie Humphrys-Dunne, that will make a perfect addition to your children’s library.

I was given a free copy of the book by the author for a an honest review.

What a sweet story about a tractor names Wilbur. He loves to work for his owner Jim, and strives to do his best, was he does. Cutting grass in Jim's yard, pulling the trailer, ploughing snow.
But one day it all changes. Jim wants to buy another property and Wilbur would be too small for doing the task there, and he was getting old.
Wilbur is very sad and his tears run down. Jim tries to easy him and put a blanked on him.
The story shows, that changes can come any time and one has to be prepared for it.
A wonderful story for boys and girls. They would love the story and the wonderful drawings of Wilbur.

In the last two evenings I read with my 7 y.o. son the beautiful story about the red tractor Wilbur. My son liked the book and I think that the plot is suitable for every child.
In the end of the book you will also find questions from the author that the kids will love to answer together with their parents. Highly recommended.
